  • 1963 - Bob Cousy (above) ends his Boston career on a high note, helping the Celtics defeat the Los Angeles Lakers, 112-109, in Game 6 of the NBA Finals for the team’s fifth consecutive NBA Championship. It is Cousy’s last game in a Celtics uniform (although he would appear in seven games as player-coach for the Cincinnati Royals during the 1969-70 season).
  • 1967 - The 1967 Philadelphia 76ers, who in 1980 were voted the NBA’s all-time greatest team, beat the San Francisco Warriors, 125-122, in Game 6 of the Finals to win the NBA Championship, ending Boston’s eight-year string of league titles. The Warriors, formerly the Philadelphia Warriors, had moved to San Francisco only four seasons earlier.
  • 1988 - Milwaukee’s Jack Sikma becomes the tallest player (7' 0") in NBA history to win the NBA free throw title, shooting 92% from the line.

  • 1994 - David Robinson (right) of the San Antonio Spurs becomes the fourth player in NBA history to score more than 70 points in a game with 71 over the L.A. Clippers on the final day of the regular season. In doing so, Robinson secured his first NBA scoring title.
