- 1965 - (Right) Bill Russell signs a new contract with the Boston Celtics, to earn $100,001 in the 1965-66 season. He becomes the NBA's highest-paid player, making exactly one dollar more than arch-rival Wilt Chamberlain.
- 1970 - Robert Horry, a member of six NBA championship teams, is born in Harford County, Maryland.
- 1979 - The Washington Bullets, led by Coach Dick Motta, play the first of two exhibition games against the Chinese National Basketball Team and the Bayi Rockets. It is the first time that an NBA team played in China.
- 1997 - Center David Robinson of the San Antonio Spurs and Forward Joe Smith, with the Golden State Warriors at that time, held basketball clinics to thousands of kids in Taipei, Taiwan; Hong Kong and Beijing, China and officiated at the opening ceremony of NBA Taiwan office.
- 2005 - Streetballer Taurian Fontenette AKA - Air Up There is awarded his And 1 Mixtape Tour contract in Philly, the final stop of the 2005 tour.
