Charles C. "Stretch" Murphy (April 10, 1907 – August 19, 1992) was an American basketball player. The Marion, Indiana native was one of the game's first true big men. At 6'6" (1.98 m), Murphy was an insurmountable defensive force.

Murphy played competitive basketball at Marion High School (1922–26), which he led to an Indiana state championship in 1926.

Recruited by Ward "Piggy" Lambert, Murphy became a star player at Purdue University. He was named to the Helms Foundation All-American team in 1929 and 1930. At Purdue he teamed up with All-American guard John Wooden. They led the team to its first Big Ten championship in 1930 going undefeated in conference play (10-0, 13-2 overall). Murphy also set a new Big Ten scoring record for a season in 1929 with 143 points. In 1930 he scored 137.

After graduating from Purdue, Murphy played for the American Basketball League's Chicago Bruins and the independent Indianapolis Kautskys.

Charles "Stretch" Murphy was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1960 and the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 1963. In 1999 he was named one of Indiana's Fifty Greatest Players by the Indiana Pacers.
