Franchise Name History
The nickname of the Chicago's representative in the National Basketball Association originated with the team's first owner, Richard Klein.
Klein, who founded the club in 1966, decided to name the team the Chicago Bulls. The reasoning behind his decision was that the fighting bull, as known from centuries of bullring history, had a relentless fighting attitude along with the instinct to never quit.
