China's National Basketball League (全国男子篮球联赛) or NBL (formerly called the Chinese Basketball League or CBL; 中国篮球联赛) is a "second division" or "minor" professional basketball league in the People's Republic of China. It is commonly known as the NBL, and this name (spelled out in letters) is often used even in Chinese. The CBL was formed from what used to be the CBA's Division B class 1 and class 2 and was launched by the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), which is China's premier professional basketball league, in 2005. Beginning with the 2006-07 season it has been called the NBL.
