- 1999 - At the first North Korea - South Korea basketball games ever held in South Korea, 7'9" North Korean center Li Myung Hoon has an easy time of it, scoring 28 points and pulling down 20 rebounds in a 86-71 victory. In the women's game, South Korea holds off a surging North Korean squad to win, 86-84. These games are held three months after the Inter-Korean Reunification Basketball Games were held in North Korea.
- 2001 - Tim Floyd resigns as coach of the Chicago Bulls. In a little more than three seasons with the Bulls, Floyd posted a record of 49-190.
- 2004 - In the continuing fallout from the Pacers-Pistons Brawl, a Federal judge issues a temporary injunction allowing Jermaine O'Neal to continue to play until there is a full hearing on the NBA's appeal of a Federal arbitrator's ruling that O'Neal's suspension be reduced from 25 games to 15.
- 2007 - The Chicago Bulls continue their tradition of getting rid of under-performing coaches on Christmas Eve, as Scott Skiles is jettisoned. Skiles compiled a 165-172 in four seasons and was 9-16 on the season.
