This "Eastern League" is different from the Eastern League (the "Eastern Professional Basketball Association") that began operating in 1947 (in about the area) and eventually became the Continental Basketball Association.
The Eastern League, sometimes called the Eastern Basket Ball League, was a professional basketball league that operated approximately from 1909 to 1936 (not operating for several of those seasons). The boundaries stretched from New York City to Delaware with most teams found in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The league's organizer was William Scheffer, who had organized the Philadelphia League.
