FIBA Americas Championship for Women

Americas Championship for Women is the name commonly used to refer to the American Basketball Championship for Women that takes every two years between national teams of the countries of North and South America. The tournament is run by FIBA Americas. The tournament began in 1980. Since 1993 it has taken place biennially, in odd-numbered years.

The 2007 tournament will take place September 26-30 in Valdivia, Chile.

The American Championship is also a qualifying tournament for the FIBA World Championship and the Olympic Games.
