- 1963 - Michael Jordan is born in Brooklyn, New York.
- 1967 - Philadelphia’s Wilt Chamberlain hits the first of what would become an NBA record 35 consecutive field goals without a miss.
- 1968 - (Right) The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame opens in Springfield, Massachusetts, on the Springfield College campus, where the game was invented by Dr. James Naismith.
- 1994 - San Antonio’s David Robinson recorded the fourth quadruple-double in NBA history with 34 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks in the Spurs’ 115-96 win over visiting Detroit. A quadruple-double has been recorded in only three other NBA games.
