- 1951 - Three CCNY players and one LIU player are arrested for their roles in a point-shaving scandal. Eventually they, and 29 other players from six schools, including the powerhouse University of Kentucky admitted their involvement. The scandal would set back the college game in New York for decades.
- 1952 - Maurice Lucas, veteran of one ABA and four NBA All-Star Games is born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- 1953 - Columbia University demolishes Princeton, 81-58. Senior Jack Molinas tallies 41 for the Lions, setting the school record for scoring. The next season the NBA bans Molinas for life for his involvement in college point-shaving.
- 1961 - Bob Pettit of the St. Louis Hawks scores 57 points, the highest scoring game of his great career, in a 141-138 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
- 1964 - Wilt Chamberlain scores 52 points against Detroit, his second consecutive 50-point game.
- 1986 - San Antonio’s Alvin Robertson records the second quadruple-double in NBA history at the time, with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in the Spurs’ 120-114 win over Phoenix.
- 1993 - The NBA Jam Session Presented by Fleer is introduced at the 1993 All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City.
- 1995 - John Stockton (right) becomes the first guard in NBA history to collect 10,000 career assists after dishing off for 15 in Utah’s 108-98 home win over Boston.
- 2006 - The Texas State Bobcats women's team beats the UT San Antonio Roadrunners, 73-71 in overtime. The Bobcats set an NCAA Division I women's record by coming back from a 32-point deficit with 2:18 remaining in the first half.
