First African-American NBA President & GM

During the 1971-1972 (March ’72 before the 11th) season Wayne Embry was named General Manager of the Bucks, becoming the first African American to hold that position in the NBA.

From 1985 to 1992, he served as vice president and general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and in 1994, he became the NBA's first African American NBA Team President & CEO with the Cavaliers. The Sporting News named him NBA Executive of the Year in 1992 and 1998.

He made up the first ever NBA General Manager & Head Coach tandem along with Lenny Wilkens.
