The Garnett ’06 is a basketball shoe made by Adidas. It is the third signature shoe designed specifically for basketball superstar and MVP Kevin Garnett. The adidas Garnett ‘06 launched in Asia and the US on January 13, 2006 and in Europe on February 1, 2006.

The adidas Garnett ’06 takes the old school adidas look and feel of Kevin Garnett’s all-time favorite shoe, the adidas Samoa and combines it with new school technology and design.

The adidas Garnett ’06’s design takes a number of its key elements from the classic adidas Samoa. “I used the Samoa as the foundation for the upper. I took the simplicity of the Samoa look and applied it to the design of the upper,” stated Kyle Pulli, designer for the adidas Garnett ’06. “I used a similar approach with the toe. The toe is made similar to that of the Samoa, but a little more modern in the shape of the pattern piece and the way it comes up into the eye stay. The use of suede on the toe, on the back of the shoe and on the tongue continues to give the shoe a classic feel.”

Looking at the new school flavor, the adidas Garnett ‘06 contains a number of unique design elements. These elements are highlighted by a unique repetitive KG pattern embossed throughout the upper. “Another cool feature that will set this shoe apart from others on the market is the different detailing on the left and right shoes. On the outsole of the shoe we again find detailing like no other, the left shoe has a K and the right shoe has a G,” stated Pulli. “I continued this with little perforated detailing on the tongue and then the back of the shoe; the left shoe has a 2 and the right has a 1; putting them together makes a cohesive collection.”

The shoe also incorporates the adidas a3 Structure Technology in the midsole providing the ultimate in lightweight cushioning and ultra-durable support. The adidas Garnett ’06 is designed with one goal, to provide basketball players with the best fitting and highest performing basketball shoe around.

The adidas Garnett ‘06 are featured in two main on-court colors: black/lone blue/metallic silver and running white/lone blue/metallic sliver. A special edition version hit the market around the 2006 NBA All-Star Game.
