Recruitment of high school players by colleges in the United States, and even the NBA, is big business. One of the ways college scouts can gauge talent from across America and around the world is by attending various events held every summer. There are a handful of by-invitation-only elite basketball camps and top-flight amateur club tournaments.

Boys' Events
Here are some of the places the best high school (and sometimes even middle school) boys want to be every summer:- AAU Nationals. All the top U-17 amateur teams in the land head to DisneyWorld in hopes of becoming national champs. Becoming a true "National Champion" is a powerful incentive to draw the country's best and brightest.
- adidas rising superstar camp. Don't show up without your invitation.
- adidas Three Stripes Tournament. The best adidas-sponsored travel teams in the West.
- Best of the Summer Tournament. Top travel teams from across the country.
- Las Vegas. Nike, adidas and Reebok all bring their teams, who bring their games.
- Top 100 High School Basketball Camp. Invitation-only. One hundred of the best high school players in the country. Operated by the NBA Players Association. No college coaches allowed.
- Nike All-American Camp. One of the must-sees for scouts and must-dos for players. Invitation-only. Nothing but the best here.
- Nike Peach Jam. Top Nike teams and players gather in sweltering Georgia to compete in one of the most prestigious of summer tourneys.
- ABCD Camp. Sonny Vaccaro has been running this camp for years. Whether it's sponsored by Reebok or adidas or whoever, big-time reps are made here. Just ask LeBron James, Sebastian Telfair and Tracy McGrady.
- USA Basketball Youth Development Festival. Fifty top prospects. High-altitude exhaustion. No college coaches or NBA scouts allowed.
- Boost Mobile Elite 24 Hoops Classic. Top 24 high school players, regardless of class year. Played at Rucker Park in Harlem.
