(1986)

Gene Hackman, Barbara Hershey, Dennis Hopper.

Perhaps the greatest basketball movie of all time. Hackman coaches a 1950's Indiana high school team in what could be his last shot at a title. Director David Anspaugh and writer Angelo Pizzo do a great job of creating the atmosphere and the mood of the times.

The movie is based on the true story of tiny Milan High School's improbable journey to the 1954 Indiana High School state championship.

Greatest quote:

"I know everything there is to know about the greatest game ever invented."
--Wilbur "Shooter" Flatch (played by Dennis Hopper)
