Jerry Grote

Gerald Wayne Grote (born October 6, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas) is a former Major League Baseball catcher who played for the Houston Colt .45s, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers and Kansas City Royals between 1963 and 1981.

Grote attended Loyola Marymount University, where he averaged about 10 ppg over a three-year career. He was drafted by the St. Louis Hawks in the 4th round (3rd pick) of the 1962 NBA draft. He played in 11 games for the Los Angeles Lakers in the 1964-65 season, averaging 1.3 ppg.
