- 2001 - The Phoenix Suns trade Jason Kidd to the New Jersey Nets for Stephon Marbury.
- 2006 - The NBA announces that a new official game ball (right) would be used in the 2006-07 season. In response to numerous complaints and a Players Association suit, the new ball would cease to be used as of January 1, 2007.
