Kevin Garnett is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Boston Celtics in the NBA. Graced the cover of Sports Illustrated (June 26, 1995) under the title of "Ready or Not..." and again with the L.A. Clippers' Darius Miles in the magazine's NBA preview issue (Oct. 30, 2000). Listed in the April 21, 1997 edition of Newsweek as one of the 100 most influential people for the next decade. Ranked 55th in the Forbes Magazine Celebrity 100 power rankings in 2000 and 2001. Unveiled 4XL (For Excellence & Leadership Foundation) during 2002 All-Star weekend. Spent the summer of 2001 touring England, Italy and Spain, promoting basketball and his business interests. Has an older sister, Sonya, and a younger sister, Ashley. Growing up in South Carolina, he was a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. Portrayed Wilt Chamberlain in the movie "Rebound". Has a tattoo of his initials, "KG," and another of an arm holding a basketball with the words "Blood, Sweat and Tears". Featured in the American Dairy Association's "got milk?" campaign. His favorite foods are hamburgers, french fries and pizza. Names Tony Dorsett and Magic Johnson as his sports heroes.

Garnett entered the NBA directly after graduating from high school at Farragut Academy in Chicago. He had spent his first three years at Mauldin High School in Mauldin, South Carolina. As a senior, Garnett was named National High School Player of the Year by USA Today and was selected to the Parade magazine All-America First Team after leading Farragut to a 28-2 mark and the Class AA state quarterfinals. He was named Mr. Basketball for the State of Illinois after averaging 25.2 points, 17.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 6.5 blocks while shooting .666 from the field. He previously had been named Mr. Basketball for the State of South Carolina as a junior in 1994. Garnett, whose four-year high school basketball totals included 2,533 points, 1,807 rebounds and 739 blocked shots, was named the Most Outstanding Player at the McDonald's All-America Game after registering 18 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocked shots.
