Larry Harris

Larry Harris enters his fourth season as General Manager of the Milwaukee Bucks. He was named to the position on July 1, 2003.
In his three seasons as the team’s General Manager, Harris has produced two playoff squads. In 2003-04, his first season as the team’s general manager, Harris produced a Bucks squad that exceeded expectations and finished the 2003-04 season 41-41. Milwaukee advanced to the postseason before falling to the eventual World Champion Detroit Pistons in the First Round 4-1. In recognition of his success, Harris was one of 10 NBA executives to receive consideration for The Sporting News Executive of the Year Award.
The Bucks returned to the playoffs during the 2005-06 campaign after finishing 40-42, advancing to the postseason for the 25th time in their 38-year history before bowing out to the Pistons 4-1. The team became the first in NBA history to make the playoffs with four new starters from the previous season.
Harris, 43, has been involved in every aspect of the team’s basketball operations during his 17-year tenure with the Bucks. He served as the club’s Assistant General Manager from 2001-03. He was named the team’s Director of Scouting in 1996 and was promoted to Director of Player Personnel in [[category:1998|1998]. He originally joined the team as a scout/video coordinator under his father, Del Harris, the Bucks Head Coach from 1987-1991.
Prior to joining the Bucks on a full-time basis in 1990, he worked in Dallas for the Wyatt Corporation, a worldwide actuarial consulting firm, and Electronic Data Systems. Harris also served as a Bucks’ regional scout out of Dallas for two years.
A 1985 honors graduate of Eastern New Mexico University, Harris graduated with a major in math and minor in computer science. He was a four-year member of the Greyhound basketball team, and served as a team capatin as a senior.
Larry has two children, Zachary (12) and Janaya (9).
