Lisa Harrison (born January 2, 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky) is a former professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Lisa became a sex symbol for her team and Playboy made an attempt to have her pose nude in their magazine. She turned down the offer.

Early Life

Lisa Harrison learned to play basketball from a young age. In 1989, she was named the High School Player of the Year by Parade magazine. In 1991, as a sophomore while attending the University of Tennessee, she was a member of their women's basketball team which won the NCAA Division I Women's Tournament.

After graduating from Tennessee in 1993, Lisa played one season (1996-1997) for the Columbus Quest of the American Basketball League and two seasons (1997-1999) for the Portland Power.

WNBA

In the 1999 WNBA Draft, she was selected by the Phoenix Mercury in the third round (34th pick overall) and is currently the team's longest serving member. In the WNBA, Lisa was once ranked eighth in free throw shooting accuracy at 86.4% in 2001.

  • After winning Playboy's "Sexiest WNBA Player" contest, Harrison was offered to $500,000 to pose but she declined.

  • Her hobbies include running and hiking.
  • She was born on January 2, making her birthday the earliest to occur in the calendar year of any WNBA player. Only one day in the year immediately proceeds hers; January 1. Tye'sha Fluker, born on December 27,1984 is the latest to occur. Coincidentally, both players attended the University of Tennessee.
  • Has two brothers and one sister.
  • She graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1993.
