Allen was undrafted after a college career at Villanova University, and began his career with the Miami Heat. He has also played for the Charlotte Bobcats, and has averaged seven points per game through his career.
Allen attended Shawnee High School in Medford, New Jersey — an upper middle-class, predominantly white, Christian community that had a nationally ranked basketball team in the early to mid-nineties. On March 8, 2007 Malik Allen did not play a game against the Orlando Magic and was rushed to the hospital with an irregular heartbeat.
