  • 1975 - In the NCAA Semifinals UCLA survives in double overtime, 75-74, against Louisville. Cardinals guard Terry Howard missed the front end of a one-and-one near the end of the game -- his only miss in 28 attempts that season. After the game, UCLA Coach John Wooden announces he will retire after the Championship game.
  • 1992 - Down by one to Kentucky with two seconds remaining on the clock, in overtime, Duke's Grant Hill heaves an inbounds pass some 80 feet to Christian Laettner near the foul line. Laettner dribbles once, fakes right, turns left and sinks a 17-footer to win the NCAA East Regional championship game and earn another trip to the Final Four. Many consider it the most exciting moment in the history of the NCAA tournament.
