  • 1991 - Underdog Duke hands defending champ UNLV their first loss of the year, holding on for a 79-77 win in the NCAA Championship semi-finals. The loss avenged Duke's humiliating 30-point loss to the Rebels in the previous year's NCAA championship game and ended UNLV's 45-game winning streak.
  • 2000 - The NBA/National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Prohibited Substances Committee adds Androstenedione (Andro), along with eight additional substances, to the list of steroids banned by the NBA/NBPA Anti-Drug Agreement. The Committee, jointly appointed by the NBA and NBPA, includes three experts in the field of illegal and performance enhancing drugs. The steroids added by the Committee to the list of Prohibited Substances are: Androstenedione, Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), Fluoxymesterone, Methyltestosterone, Nandrolone, Oxandrolone, Oxymetholone, Stanozolol and Testosterone.

  • 2001 - (Above) The fantastic college career of Jackie Stiles comes to an end. The prolific scorer from Missouri State (then called Southwest Missouri State) finishes with NCAA Division I Women's records for single-season (1,062 in 2001) and career (3,393 in 1997-2001) scoring.
