About the Player

Marquin Chandler Arrives Former Magic MVP (2000) Marquin Chandler has finally arrived or shall I say finally getting a chance to play @ San Jose State University. That’s all he really ever needed , was just a chance. Coming out of Newark Memorial HS, Marquin was named to the Cal High Sports All State team. He was also High School Sports Focus (TV Show) Player of the Year and led Newark Memorial to a 2nd place finish in the California State Championships. Marquin was All Tournament at the 2000 Las Vegas Summer Classic Tournament that the Magic won. After high school he went to George Washington University and was there for two years without really getting a chance -- he played under two different coaches. Next was the transfer to San Jose St. and the red-shirt year. Then came the Jr. year and expectations were high but he wasn’t really given the chance. Now after a hot pro-am summer league in San Francisco where he averaged 35,0 pts per game, Marquin was ready. This season Marquin has emerged and for the 2nd time this season has been named Conference Player of the Week, currently averaging 21.0 pts and 10.1 rebounds per game.
