- 1971 - In a blockbuster trade, the Golden State Warriors send Jerry Lucas to the New York Knicks in exchange for Cazzie Russell.
- 1972 - The Los Angeles Lakers beat the New York Knicks in five games to win the NBA Championship. It is their first title since moving from Minneapolis in 1960.
- 1989 - Right: Michael Jordan elevates over Craig Ehlo and nails a jumper at the buzzer to win the first-round series for the Chicago Bulls over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 1994 - The Denver Nuggets upset the Seattle SuperSonics in the first round of the 1994 NBA Playoffs, and became the first No. 8 seed to knock off a No. 1 seed in the first round since the NBA went to the 16-team playoff format in 1984.
- 1995 - Reggie Miller scored eight points in the 8.9 seconds to stun the Madison Square Garden crowd as the Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks 107-105 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals series. The Pacers went on to win the series in seven games.
