Morris Almond

Morris Almond (born February 2, 1985 in Dalton, Georgia) is an American basketball player, who was selected 25th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. Almond spent four years at the collegiate-level, graduating from Rice University.

Almond attended McEachern High School in Powder Springs, Georgia and was a teammate of current NBA player Josh Smith.

Almond gained prominence on his junior year, when he improved from scoring 7.2 point per game, to 21.9. He led all Conference USA players in scoring that year.

Almond flirted with entering the 2006 NBA Draft but decided to pursue his senior season at Rice.

At his senior year, he improved even more his scoring average to 26.4 ranking third in the nation. He was named Conference USA Player of the Year and was named AP All-America Honorable Mention.

He has finished his four college years. He played 121 games with a global average of 15.1 ppg (1825 point total).

On June 28, 2007, Almond was taken 25th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. Almond is expected to provide much-needed shooting to the young Jazz squad.
