Mou Zuoyun

Mou Zuoyun (牟作雲 or 牟作云, b. 1913 in Wuqing, China) is a Chinese retired basketball player, coach and official.

Educated in British primary and secondary schools. Admitted to Beijing Normal University in 1934 to the Department of Physical Education. Selected to the national basketball team in 1934, in which China took the silver medal. Played in the Tenth Far Eastern Championship Games in Manila in 1934. After graduation he was admitted to the Department of Physical Education at National Taiwan Normal University. Selected for the 1936 national basketball team, which played in the 11th Olympic Games in Berlin.
In 1937 Mou received a faculty appointment at Qinghua (Tsinghua) University in Physical Education.
In 1946-47 he traveled to the United States to study at the International YMCA Training School, the birthplace of basketball.
Mou returned to China and once again played in the Olympics, which were held in London in 1948. He traveled to Budapest in 1949 to participate in the first session of the World Youth Festival. and to Berlin in 1951 for the second session of the World Youth Festival.
He was appointed head coach of the Chinese national team in 1951. He led the team to the World University Games in 1953.
After 1949, successive Ball State Sports Commission Deputy Director of the Division, the Chinese Basketball Association chairman of the Chinese Tennis Association vice chairman, first vice chairman of the Asia basket.
Establishment of the new China's first national basketball team, is the first coach of the national team coach and Bayi Rockets. Fifth, and Sixth CPPCC National Committee.
Achievements: China is a new basketball one of the pioneers and founders. Won the State Sports Commission awarded the "Medal of sports" and the "new pioneers of China sports medals." In 2005 a new championship trophy for the Chinese Basketball Association was created and named in Mou's honor: the Mou Zuoyun Cup.
