NBA Age Limit
From Hoopedia
- Beginning in 2006, the age limit for entering the Draft will increase from 18 to 19 years of age. U.S. players must be at least one year removed from high school and 19 years of age (by the end of that calendar year) before entering the draft. An international player must turn 19 during the calendar year of the draft.
- Teams are allowed to assign players with less than 2 years experience to the NBA Development League. Players sent to the NBA Development League will continue to count on a team’s inactive list.
- Every NBA team has a player development director who focuses on the individual needs of each player, particularly the younger players, providing essential support for their career and education opportunities.
- The NBA also has a "20 and under” program that provides additional support services for all players under the age of 20 as well as programs that are geared specifically toward international players helping them with their transition into the NBA.
