The NBA Summer League, sometimes called the Vegas League, is an NBA-operated league in which new rookies get acclimated to NBA competition and undrafted free agents, along with a handful of veterans, have the opportunity to earn an invitation to training camp in October. The Vegas League has been operating since 2004.

2007

In 2007 the league operated in Las Vegas, Nevada, July 6-15.

The 2007 NBA Summer League presented by adidas featured 21 NBA teams and the Chinese National Team competing over 10 days, from July 6-15. A 55-game schedule was be played at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

Seven of the first eight picks from the 2007 NBA Draft, and 11 lottery selections overall, played in the NBA Summer League. The group is highlighted by Greg Oden of the Portland Trail Blazers, the top overall pick, and Kevin Durant of the Seattle SuperSonics, the second overall selection and NCAA consensus player of the year. The Memphis Grizzlies' Michael Conley (No. 4 selection), Oden's high school and college teammate, and the Sonics’ Jeff Green (No. 5) may also participate in the summer league. Other lottery picks expected to compete include the Milwaukee Bucks' and Team China's Yi Jianlian (No. 6); the Minnesota Timberwolves' Corey Brewer (No. 7); the Golden State Warriors' Brandan Wright (No. 8), the Sacramento Kings' Spencer Hawes (No. 10); the Philadelphia 76ers' Thaddeus Young (No. 12); the New Orleans Hornets' Julian Wright (No. 13); and the Los Angeles Clippers' Al Thornton (No. 14).

Other first round picks in Vegas include the Detroit Pistons' Rodney Stuckey (No. 15th); the Washington Wizards' Nick Young (No. 16); the Los Angeles Lakers' Javaris Crittenton (No. 19); the Sixers' Jason Smith (No. 20); the New York Knicks' Wilson Chandler (No. 23); and the Phoenix Suns' Alando Tucker (No. 29).

NBA TV broadcast 29 games from Las Vegas on a live or tape delayed basis as well and provided reports on the Summer League teams featuring interviews with players, coaches and team executives. Joel Meyers and Rick Kamla were on site to anchor the network's coverage and to serve as game announcers.
