Nankai Five Tigers

The Nankai Five Tigers (名扬天下) team was one of the first great teams in China. Dr. Willard Lyon founded the first YMCA in China (in Tianjin, then called Tientsin in English). On December 5, 1895, Lyon presided over the first game of basketball played in China, at the Tianjin YMCA. The Nankai Five Tigers had their start in the Tianjin YMCA. Presumably they were students at Nankai University, also located in Tinajin.
