The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) is an association of community college athletic departments throughout the United States. (Community, or Junior, colleges, offer academic programs two years in length.) The men's and women's basketball programs organized by the NJCAA are divided into three divisions. The majority of community colleges in the state of California are not members of the NJCAA.

The NJCAA was founded in 1938, but focused on Track and Field then. They began hosting a basketball tournament in 1945 and it took off.
