- 1964 - New Mexico Lobos coach Steve Alford (right) is born in Franklin, Indiana.
- 1965 - Hall of Fame player Harlan Page passes away at age 78. Page led the University of Chicago to two Helms Foundation national championships (1908, 1909) and was named Helms Foundation National Player of the Year for 1910.
- 1981 - Five former Boston College players are found guilty of Federal racketeering and bribery charges for shaving points to fix games during the 1978-79 season. As a result Rick Kuhn, a star forward for the Eagles, spent 28 months in prison.
- 1991 - The Sacramento Kings snap their NBA record 43-game road losing streak with a 95-93 win over the Magic at the Orlando Arena.
- 1994 - Jeff Hornacek of the Utah Jazz sets an NBA record by sinking all eight of his three-point field goal attempts during the Jazz’s 113-103 home win over Seattle.
