- 1954 - With a 3-11 record, the original Baltimore Bullets fold. Of all the defunct NBA teams, the Bullets were members of the association for the longest time.
- 1963 - Wilt Chamberlain of the San Francisco Warriors hits 18 field goals in a row during a 118-89 win over New York, setting what was at that time an NBA record.
- 1971 - Thirteen-year NBA veteran Nick Van Exel is born in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
- 2000 - Former Sonics star Nate McMillan is named head coach of the Seattle SuperSonics.
