- 1991 - Ervin "Magic" Johnson retires from the NBA after disclosing that he had tested positive for the HIV virus. The $90 million dollar Delta Center opens, the new home of the Utah Jazz.
- 1992 - The $90 million dollar America West Arena opens, new home of the Phoenix Suns.
- 1997 - The Sacramento Kings fail to sell out a game, ending a sell-out streak of 497 consecutive games.
