- 1988 - The Boston Celtics defeat the Yugoslavian National Team, 113-85, in the opening round of the McDonald's Open in Madrid, Spain.
- 1995 - In front of a sellout crowd of 10,708 at London Arena in London, England, the Houston Rockets defeat Buckler Bologna of Italy, 126-112, in the championship game of six-team McDonald's Championship. The Rockets are the first reigning NBA Champions to play in the McDonald's Championship.
