Portugal is a good basketball team considering that the population is just 10 million. Portugal has played the eurobasket twice, in 1951 and 2007. Portugal qualifiquated for eurobasket 2007 1st in a group that also included Israel, Bosnia and Macedonia. In the first round, Portugal lost to Spain and Croatia and won the last game against Latvia, proceeded to group E and was eliminated. It was the best participation in an internation competition in the history of the portuguese national basketball team
