Sean McLaughlin

Sean M. McLaughlin begins his second season as the Director of Marketing and Communications of the 2006 D-League Champions Albuquerque Thunderbirds.

Sean McLaughlin is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. He cracked his way into the sports world in 1997 working for the [[International Basketball Association as an intern with the Des Moines Dragons. During Sean's time with the Dragons the team scored four winning seasons, broke multiple attendance records, and also won the IBA Organization of the Year three times. In 2001, Sean was named the Director of Operations and Executive Director of the IBA, all while working for the Des Moines Menace Soccer Club and the Iowa Sports Connection newspaper.

He moved on to the Continental Basketball Association where he worked for the Gary Steelheads, in Gary, Indiana. Two years later Sean advanced his career and became the General Manager with the Cedar Rapids River Raiders in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he also earned the "USBL Executive of the Year". Now Sean is happy to be in Albuquerque as the Thunderbird's Director of Marketing and Communications. Sean has wanted to work in professional sports since the 7th grade and he feels working with the Thunderbirds is an opportunity to help a start up team succeed. It's also a chance to work in the NBA structure. Sean hopes to one day work for a NBA team marketing department or in game operations.
