St. Louis Bombers
From Hoopedia
The St. Louis Bombers were a National Basketball Association team based in St. Louis, Missouri founded in 1946 and ceasing operations in 1950.
The Saint Louis Bombers were a charter member of the Basketball Association of America (BAA) in 1946. The BAA merged with the National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949 to become the National Basketball Association (NBA). Subsequently, in 1950, the Bombers, along with five other NBA teams ceased operations altogether.
After the NBA was formed, the Bombers defeated the Tri-Cities Blackhawks (formerly of the NBL), 72-51, on November 1, 1949, in the first game of the newly-named National Basketball Association.
