Stan Love

Stanley (Stan) S. Love (born April 9, 1949 in Los Angeles, California) is a retired American basketball player. A 6' 9" forward, Love graduated from Morningside High School, in Inglewood, California, then played collegiately for the University of Oregon Ducks from 1968 to 1971, and was the 9th pick in the 1971 NBA Draft, chosen by the Baltimore Bullets. He had a four-year professional career with Baltimore and the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association, and the San Antonio Spurs, then of the American Basketball Association. He retired from the sport in 1975. Love was inducted into the University of Oregon Athletics Hall of Fame in 1994.

In the mid-1970s, and again in the early 1980s, Love worked for The Beach Boys as a bodyguard, along with Rocky Pamplin, assigned with the task of keeping Brian Wilson away from drugs. In 1981, Love and Rocky Pamplin assaulted Beach Boys' drummer Dennis Wilson for allegedly giving drugs to his brother Brian. Dennis Wilson was left with a damaged voice and permanent scars on his face after the assault.

Love is the father of basketball player Kevin Love, and the younger brother of Beach Boys founding member Mike Love. He is the cousin of Beach Boys Brian Wilson, Carl Wilson, and Dennis Wilson.

Love currently resides in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
