From Hoopedia
Starbury, Inc. is an American company and brand that produces sneakers and clothing line endorsed by NBA players Stephon Marbury and Ben Wallace with Steve and Barry's and was launched in September 2006. There are many styles, mostly for $9.98, but Steph's on court shoe, the Starbury One, sells for $14.98. The shoes are made with the same quality as those of other NBA-endorsed players such as the sneakers of Nike or D-Wade or LeBron according to Stephon Marbury. Background
Marbury remembers growing up in Coney Island (located in Brooklyn, New York) and not being able to afford the latest shoes. Hoping that his discount sneaker idea will become popular, Marbury has gone as far to prove his point by playing in his own brand name sneakers for all of the NBA season starting with the 2006-2007 season, thus proving the $15 price tag is not a gimmick, but that the shoe can actually can perform effectively in a basketball environment. The idea of $15 dollar shoes and inexpensive quality has been an idea of Marbury for a long time according to the New York Knicks point guard. In fact he was the first one to approach Steve & Barry's retailer with his idea for his own inexpensive, quality clothing and sneaker line. The shoes are manufactured in China but there is a third party involved to prevent sweatshop conditions.
