On September 4, 1999 Weatherspoon hit a memorable half-court shot versus the Houston Comets to give New York a game 2 win, 68-67. The shot forced the WNBA finals to a game 3. The shot was made in front of a capacity crowd at the Compaq Center of 16,285. However, the New York Liberty would lose game 3 in the best-of-three series.
