Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, often Texas A&M–CC or TAMU-CC, is a state university located in Corpus Christi, Texas. The university is part of the Texas A&M University System.

TAMU-CC is one of only two universities in the United States located on its very own island, the other being Texas A&M University at Galveston. Its campus is surrounded by natural wetlands and is located near the Hans and Pat Suter Wildlife Refuge. The newly restored beach across from campus provides a live on-site laboratory for measuring coastal processes.

TAMUCC has joined the Southland Conference as of 2006-07 as a non-football member. Before that, it had been an independent since it began offering Division I sports in 1999.

TAMUCC offers 5 men's sports: baseball, basketball, cross country, tennis, and track and field; as well as 7 women's sports: basketball, cross country, golf, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. In tribute to its location on its own island, the athletic teams are known as the Islanders. The mascot is Izzy the Islander.

Men's Basketball

On January 6, 2007, the Islanders beat McNeese State in both men's and women's basketball to win their first conference games. The men's team would go on to win the Southland regular season championship and advance to the conference tournament final.

On March 3, 2007, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Basketball team won the Southland Conference Men's Title.

On March 11, 2007, the Islanders men's basketball team beat Northwestern State University 81-78 to win the Southland.
