U21 FIBA World Championships

The U21 FIBA World Championship was initiated in 1993 as the FIBA 22 And Under World Championship and originally designed for men 22-years-old or younger, FIBA lowered the age eligibility to 21 years of age or younger in December 1998 and the competition was renamed. The U21 competition is being eliminated from the schedule by FIBA after 2007.

The USA men captured gold in 2001 with a perfect 8-0 record and finished in fifth place in 2005 with a 7-1 mark. The selections of the players and coaches are made by the USA Basketball Collegiate Committees.
