In the NCAA Championship game, Villanova played the perfect game to beat Big East rival, #1-ranked Georgetown, which featured dominant center Patrick Ewing. Villanova shot better than 70% for the game, and was nearly perfect in the second half. Underclassman Harold Jensen was a surprise offensive star, hitting a series of jump shots for the Wildcats, who had lost twice to the Hoyas earlier in the season. Despite the game's reputations as a great upset, it is worth noting that Villanova -- led by big man Ed Pinkney -- had defeated Georgetown at least once each year during Pat Ewing's four years with the Hoyas. In their senior year, Ed Pinkney and his teammates waited until the National Championship game to get their win over Georgetown.
