Walter Herrmann

Wálter Herrmann (born June 26, 1979 in Venado Tuerto) is an Argentine professional basketball player. He is of German descent. Marked by tragedy, he lost his mother, 2 younger sisters and girlfriend in a tragic car accident. Exactly one year later, his father died of a heart attack. He is a key reserve on the Argentina national basketball team, and recently signed a one year contract for $2M to play for the Charlotte Bobcats during the 2006-07 NBA season and now playing for the Detroit Pistons. He is listed at 6' 9", 225 lbs. and has dual citizenship: Argentine and Spanish.

Hermann won NBA Eastern Conference rookie of the month honors in March 2007. In his 13 March games, Herrmann averaged 12.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and finished 58.5 percent on field goals and 47.2 percent on 3-pointers. Herrmann finished the 2006-2007 season out averaging 9.2 points per game and 2.9 rebounds per game. Wálter scored his career high 30 points against the Milwaukee Bucks on April 14.
