Willie McCarter

Willie McCarter (born July 26, 1946 in Gary, Indiana) is a former basketball player.
After graduating from Gary Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana, he played at Drake University. At Drake he zveraged 19.9 PPG in three seasons. In 1969 he led Drake to the NCAA Division I Men's Tournament Final Four, where Drake took third place and McCarter was named to the All-Tournament team.
He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 12th pick in the 1969 NBA Draft, and played three seasons with the Lakers and Portland Trail Blazers.
He recently had surgery to remove a bad part of his brain after two strokes. He was quoted as saying "The doctors took one-third of my brain out."
