February 9 - The Minnesota School of Agriculture defeated Hamline College, 9-3, in one of the earliest intercollegiate basketball game.
December 5 - The first basketball game played in China took place at the Tianjin (then called Tientsin) YMCA, under the guidance of Dr. Willard Lyon.
