Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League

In the winter of 1901-1902, Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Yale and Princeton formed the original Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League, joined in later years by Penn, Dartmouth, and Brown. Columbia, Penn, and Yale dominated this league in the first two decades. In 1954 other sports were brought included in this association and the name was changed to Ivy League.
