This article refers to the major European competition involving national teams.
Top club teams vie for the Euroleague championship and for the Eurocup. Formerly the top club competition was the European Champions Cup, until it was upstaged by the Euroleague.
European countries vie for the FIBA EuroBasket, also known as FIBA European Championship, in odd-numbered years. The tournament was first held in 1935. The next champion will be decided in Spain, September 3-16, 2007.
