- 1969 - Vergel Meneses, one of the best players in the Philippines in the 1990s, is born in Malolos, Bulacan, Phillipines.
- 1993 - Mark Eaton of the Utah Jazz blocks two shots in a 96-89 win over Seattle, becoming the second player in NBA history to total 3,000 career blocks. Today only three players in the NBA have blocked more shots in their careers.
- 1998 - Charles Barkley pleads not guilty to a charge of hitting a fan during a game in New Jersey. Barkley would be acquitted of the charges.
- 2000 - Mark Cuban purchases a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks from H. Ross Perot, Jr.
- 2003 - The Lady Vols coach Pat Head Summitt wins her 800th win 76-57 against DePaul.
- 2008 - Chris Paul narrowly misses a rare quadruple-double, but it is still enough to pull the New Orleans Hornets to a 104-97 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Paul tallies 33 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and seven steals.
