1968 - The ABAPittsburgh Pipers announce that they are moving and will become the Minnesota Pipers. They would return to Pittsburgh after one season in Minnesota.
1988 - At the annual NBA Draft, the number of rounds is reduced from seven to three.
1995 - The NBA Draft is held for the first time outside the United States in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
2005 - Larry Brown (below) becomes the NBA's highest paid coach when he signs a five-year deal with the New York Knicks worth a reported $50 to $60 million. He would be fired less than one year later.
